2016 - 2017
Air + Style, a snowboarding competition-meets-music festival, needed a new website, yearly. The twist? After a year, we had to raise the bar for the second edition.
Create a professional, yet wow-inducing, website for snowboarding music lovers. Awesomeness and usability were priorities, plus e-commerce functionalities for purchasing tickets to see the bands and pros whipping down the halfpipe. A year later, we went all in for version 2.0, dropping a new design with innovative layouts, motion, and a new level of rad for a bigger, better experience.
The first stage: Ideation
We collaborated with Air + Style founders to bring together all of the features needed for a snowboarding and music event worthy of a perfect 100-point score.
LINEUPS AND SCHEDULES
For each edition of the site, we followed an agile process and designed in sprints. After sketching features and selecting different layout options, we presented high-fidelity wireframes.
Next up: Translating the already well-defined brand style into UI elements for the new site.
The black background and vibrant colors came out on top as the best way to showcase the festival.
The Updated Experience
For year two, we explored how to give users even more of what they were looking for. An improved site with lots of interaction, movement, the ability to follow along with the action before, during, and after the event, and all of the details on past editions.
Rethinking the whole experience wasn’t necessary, but planning ahead is always chill, so we created some low-fidelity wireframes to get a fresh perspective.
The Improved Visuals
It was time to go all in with the design. Innovative layouts, motion, and animation made for an even more exciting experience.
Horizontal scrolling isn't for everyone, but it made perfect sense for the timeline vibe of this festival.
